Public Notice Notice is hereby given that Glasgow, Inc. (Glasgow), has made application to the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) for a National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES Permit) and a modification of its Surface Mining Permit (SMP No. 15750402) to support noncoal mining activities in East Whiteland Township, Chester County. The application includes a request for approval to import mine reclamation fill (MRF) as a means of post-mining reclamation and is adding approximate original contour as a reclamation option in addition to the option for a water impoundment. The existing surface mine permit area of the Catanach Quarry is 233.2 acres and is situated due west of the intersection of State Route 29 (Morehall Road) and the I-76 Exit 320 ramp. The receiving stream for the proposed NPDES permit is an unnamed tributary to Valley Creek, with a designated use as Exceptional Value Waters (EV), and Migratory Fishes (MF) under Title 25, Chapter 93.
