PUBLIC HEARING NOTICE Take notice that the Borough of Hightstown (the “Applicant”) has filed a request with the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection, Green Acres Program, proposing a minor diversion of approximately 760 square feet, or 0.017 acres, of parkland, adjacent to the intersection of Franklin Street (Route 33) and North Main Street (Route 33), within Block 28 Lot 1 on the Tax Maps of Hightstown Borough, Mercer County, New Jersey. The minor diversion will be under NJDOT’s jurisdiction moving forward and will allow for access and maintenance of proposed traffic and signal equipment. These proposed activities are part of a larger NJDOT project of American with Disabilities Act (ADA) Improvements across New Jersey’s Central Region. The minor diversion involves 0.017 acres of encumbered land with Hightstown Memorial Park. In accordance with NJAC 7:36-26.5(c)ii, the Borough of Hightstown proposes monetary compensation for diverted land, which will be utilized to partially fund proposed park improvements at Dawes Park, 102 Railroad Avenue, Hightstown Borough, New Jersey, another Green Acres Park within the Borough. Pursuant to N.J.A.C. 7:36-26.6(e), a hearing (the “Public Hearing”) to obtain public comment on this request will be held at Hightstown Firehouse Hall at 140 North Main Street, Hightstown, NJ 08520, on July 20th, 2026, at 5:30 PM. All information submitted by the applicant to the Green Acres Program in support of the requested minor diversion is available for public inspection at the Hightstown Borough Clerk’s Office, 156 Bank Street, Hightstown, NJ 08520 and at the Hightstown Memorial Library at 114 Franklin St, Hightstown, NJ 08520, and may be inspected by the public during regular business hours.
