NOTICE Pursuant to the “Noncoal Surface Mining Conservation and Reclamation Act” and the “Clean Streams Law” notice is hereby given that New Enterprise Stone & Lime Co., Inc. (NESL), 3912 Brumbaugh Road, New Enterprise PA 16664, has made application to the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) to revise its existing Surface Noncoal Mining Permit (SMP) 06100301 at Leesport Quarry, 167 New Enterprise Drive, Leesport PA. NESL is requesting to add an additional 17.21 acres to the mining permit for a total of 386.37 acres. The mine site is in Ontelaunee Township, Berks County, and is bounded by PA Route 61to the east, New Enterprise Drive to the north, Schuylkill River to the west, and Maiden Creek to the south. It is shown on the Temple 7.5-minute U.S. Geological Survey topographic map. The quarry has a permit area of 386.37 acres. The receiving streams for quarry water discharge are Maiden Creek and Schuylkill River. A copy of the application is available for public inspection at the Ontelaunee Township Municipal Authority, 35 Ontelaunee Dr., Reading, PA 19605 through 8/19/2026. Written comments, objections, or a request for an informal conference or public hearing may be submitted to the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection, Pottsville District Office, 5 West Laurel Blvd., Pottsville, PA 17901, by 8/19/2026 and must include the person’s name, address, telephone number, and a brief statement as to the nature of the objection(s).
