April 24, 2026 – The Tredyffrin/Easttown School District (TESD) requests sealed bids for the New Elementary School Project- Wide Area Network Extension. (Project # 23-037.03) This single-prime project (1 Contract: Fiber-Optic Lineman Contractor) consists of the extension of TESD’s fiber optic network to 1200 W. Swedesford Road from existing TESD facilities to service the new Bear Hill Elementary School. The network extension will include three parts. The first part uses an existing underground conduit in the Main Distribution Frame of 1200 W Swedesford Road Building. The existing conduit provides the pathway from the MDF to a designated pole on Howelville Road. The second part of the network extension is new construction. The new construction or pole attachments starts on a designated pole on Howellville Road and extends to the riser pole at Hillside Elementary School, 507 Howellville Road, Berwyn, PA. The third part of the network extension uses overlashing. TESD owns pole attachments on the route from Hillside Elementary School to the District’s Network Operations Center (NOC), 81 Howellville Rd, Berwyn, PA, on the corner of Howellville and Conestoga Roads. The overlash process places new fiber optic cable on the existing attachments. The fiber optic cable will run continuously from the new Bear Hill Elementary School to the Network Operations Center. The majority of the route uses aerial attachments on PECO and Verizon poles. The proposed route crosses one set of railroad tracks maintained by Norfolk Southern. The 96 strand cable count of single-mode fiber optic cable will be lashed to metal strand along the entire aerial route. The building entrance at the District’s NOC is an aerial entrance from Conestoga Road and using an existing pathway on the second floor of the building. Bids are to be received electronically before 3:00 P.M., Friday, April 24, 2026, at which time bids will be opened on the PennBid website with results displayed publicly. The results will also be read aloud at the School District Administration Offices.
