NOTICE OF INTENT TO RAISE EARNED INCOME TAX BY .25% NOTICE IS GIVEN that on December 1, 2025 at 10:30 a.m. at Narberth Borough Hall, 100 Conway Ave. Narberth, PA 19072, Narberth Borough Council will hold a special meeting and intends to consider at such time an ordinance to raise the Earned Income Tax by .25%, resulting in a total tax of 1% on earned income and net profits derived by Narberth Borough residents and nonresidents working in Narberth Borough. The ordinance for consideration is entitled: AN ORDINANCE OF NARBERTH BOROUGH, MONTGOMERY COUNTY, PENNSYLVANIA, AMENDING CHAPTER 458 OF THE NARBERTH BOROUGH CODE, TAXATION, ARTICLE IV, EARNED INCOME TAX, SECTION 458-45.A, IMPOSITION OF TAX, TO AMEND THE TAX FOR GENERAL REVENUE PURPOSES ON EARNED INCOME AND NET PROFITS DERIVED BY BOROUGH RESIDENTS AND NONRESIDENTS WORKING IN THE BOROUGH TO A RATE OF 1%. It is the judgment of Borough Council that the earned income tax should be raised to 1% to generate general revenue for purposes including, but not limited to, payments for infrastructure projects and anticipated increases in Borough expenses. The .25% increase is estimated to provide annual revenue in the amount of $500,000 for such purposes. The increase resulting in a 1% earned income tax will be effective January 1, 2026. The proposed ordinance will be available for public inspection from this newspaper and at the Montgomery County Law Library, One Montgomery Plaza - 10th Floor, 425 Swede St. Norristown, PA. Copies of the ordinance will be available to the public electronically upon request of the Borough, and arrangements can be made for copies to be viewed or provided at Narberth Borough Hall, weekdays from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. If you have questions or require a reasonable accommodation to participate in the meeting or to provide comment on the intent to raise the earned income tax, please contact Maggie Dobbs at (610) 664-2840.
